Robert "R" and Sarah Patterson's Children:

This Page Was Last Updated On July 22, 2003.

William Patterson, son of Robert "R" and Sarah _____ Patterson, was still under age in 1775 when his father wrote his Will in Craven/York Co SC. He MAY have been born as early as 1758, but most likely no later than 1762.

Not much is known about this William. He may be the William Patterson that was named in 1783 by Col. William Bratton as one of the Tories from York Co SC (a Tory was supportive of the British in the Revolutionary War, aka a Loyalist). If William Patterson was a Loyalist, he wasn't alone in this family. Here is Bratton's list of Tories from York Co SC:

Peeter Juland Jr.
Benjamin Juland
Peeter Juland
Wm. Juland
Daniel Ponder
Jary Juland
Robert Black
James Irvin
Wm. Patterson
Josaph Black
Thomas Peeterson
John Black
Mathew Black

Notice the Pattersons, Blacks, and Julians! The Daniel Ponder may have been Daniel Sr as he certainly was a Loyalist. Daniel Jr was a brother-in-law to this William Patterson. The Thomas "Peeterson" (Patterson) was a brother to the William Patterson. Also, the John and Joseph Blacks were more brothers-in-law to William.

Again, I am not sure what happened to William Patterson. More research continues to be done on him, but so far to no avail.
