Eliza Jane Patterson was born circa 1836 in Franklin Co GA where her parents were married in October of 1835. Jane was with them in AL during the late 1830's and 1840's and again in 1860 in Rusk Co TX.
Between 1860 and 1862, Jane married a widower named Tillotson Carlton. Mr. Carlton was born 1818/19 in NC. His first wife was named Mary A. _____, and was the mother of at least two children to Mr. Carlton. They were named George W. Carlton (b. ca. 1848) and Anna C. Carlton (b. ca. 1853).
Mr. Carlton's first wife died in Nacogdoches Co Tx where he soon thereafter married Jane Patterson. Tillotson and Jane had at least six children according to the 1870 and 1880 census records. Mr. Carlton died between 1875 and 1880 in Nacogdoches Co Tx.
Their six children were:
- Robert M. Carlton (b. 1862/63)
- Mary M. Carlton (b. 1864/66)
- Rhoda Ella Carlton (b. 1867/68)
- William Thomas "Tom" Carlton (b. March, 1870)
- Berry Carlton (b. ca. 1873)
- Franklin Carlton (b. ca. 1875)
At this time I do not know anything further about Eliza Jane Patterson Carlton and her descendants.
