The
eighth child of George and Rebecca Chastain Patterson was Hanna Margaret Patterson. Margaret was born in June of 1845 in Union Co GA. Her mother Rebecca MAY HAVE died in childbirth or soon thereafter, although we don't know for sure. We do know that Rebecca was dead before 1850.
Margaret married Jonathan Thomas "Pat" Cornett on January 29, 1865. This was at the tail end of the Civil War, in which Pat had served. Pat was born March 17, 1844 in Fannin Co, Blue Ridge, GA. Pat was the son of Eldred "Dredd" Cornett and Rachel Chastain. I'm not sure what the relation of Pat's mother was to Margaret's mother, but both having been Chastains from north GA they were most definitely related. Therefore Pat and Margaret were cousins apparently.

Their first four children were born in GA, the rest in Tx. Their children were:

Pat and Margaret's great-grandson, Jack Bradshaw, contacted me in September, 2000. He says that Pat served in the 6th Georgia Cavalry during the Civil War. Pat was also a stonemason who built the Motley County jail in Matador, Texas in 1891. The jail still stands today.
Pat and Margaret are both buried in East Mound Cemetery, Motley Co., Matador, Tx. Margaret died on December 23, 1913, while Pat died a few years later in 1916.
