The
fifth child of George and Rebecca Chastain Patterson was Nancy Eliza "Elizer" Patterson. Elizer was born ca. 1833 in Union Co GA. Elizer was the second daughter, but the oldest surviving daughter of George and Rebecca.
In 1855, on September 13, she married John Robert Dillard in Fannin Co GA. He was born ca. 1834 in GA. John and Elizer appear to have had three daughters. Their oldest daughter was Martha "Mattie" J. Dillard. Mattie was born ca. 1857 in GA. In 1870 the whole family was living in Union Co GA. Mattie never married. In 1917, she was living with her first cousin Elijah Patterson and his family. Elijah (William Harden Patterson's son) had lost his wife in 1917, so his cousin Mattie came to live with him to help raise his five children for a few years. At this time I do not know how long she lived after 1917.
John and Elizer's second child was Laura A. Dillard. She was born ca. 1861 in TN. She married Noah Brackett (b. 1863 GA) on January 17, 1880 (possibly in Union Co GA, but not sure).
John and Elizer's third child was Josephine Dillard, born ca. 1864 in GA. She was still living in 1880, but nothing else is known by me of her.
John Robert Dillard served in Civil War as a Private in the 5th TN Mounted Infantry, Co. F. He was documented as in that company on October 3, 1864, but he apparently was later killed, or at least died, during the Civil War.
Elizer was still living in Union Co GA in 1880, but I know nothing of her after that.
