Mary
Patterson was the oldest daughter of Robert "R"
Patterson, according to the Will
of Margaret Adams (nee Donnell, married William Patterson
first, then John Adams), which was written in 1744. Mary
was specifically named in her grandmother's will, and
was named as the daughter of Robert Patterson.
No
other record has been found regarding this Mary Patterson.
She is NOT the same Mary Patterson who was the daughter
of another Robert Patterson in Augusta Co Va and who married
an Alexander Stuart. That was a separate line of Pattersons,
and is well documented in my Biographical
Sketch of Robert "R" Patterson.
Mary
was not named in 1775 in her father's will, nor were any
grandchildren named in his will other than John Patterson,
son of Thomas Patterson. Therefore, Mary seems to have
died as a child or as an adult, either unmarried, or married
but with no heirs alive by 1775. In either case, Mary
was alive in 1744, but apparently not alive in 1775 when
Robert Patterson wrote his
Will.
